makeup brushes: the ones i can’t live without

You don’t realize how important your makeup brush collection is until you leave half of them at school when you go home for the weekend.  You also don’t realize how many brushes you actually own until you decide to go through them and make a list of your favorites for a blog post.  So without further ado, here are my “necessities” when it comes to makeup brushes.

Sigma F50 Duo Fibre, $26 f50

If I only had one brush that I could use for the rest of my life, it’d be this one.  As dumb as this may sound, I honestly don’t know what I’d do without this brush in my collection.  I use this one every single day to blend out everything, from foundation to highlight.  I think this brush is a fair price as well, considering the quality of the hairs is just as good if not better than the more expensive versions of it.  I live.

Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki, $24

f80

When I don’t use my beauty blender to apply foundation, (which is actually kind of rare) I use this bad boy.  I’ve tried a ton of foundation brushes in my years of makeup addiction, but nothing compares to this one in my opinion.  This brush does an awesome job of blending in my foundation and prevents too much product from sitting on my face.  Fun fact:  I added this brush to my collection probably three years ago now, and a few months ago the brush decided to fall apart.  I was able to get in touch with Sigma and they sent me a new one for free!  In conclusion, Sigma rocks.

Real Techniques Powder, $10 powder

I don’t really have anything specific to say with this one, other than it’s just an awesome powder brush. I love to use this to set my foundation, and you can’t beat the price!

Real Techniques Fan, (limited edition)

I think a fan brush is the best way to apply a powder highlighter.  I can’t seem to find this Real Techniques one anywhere, but I’m sure any thin fan brush like it will do!

Sigma F35 Tapered Highlighter, $24 f35

I use this brush everyday to set my under eye concealer.  I like how the hairs are soft enough that they don’t poke at my eyeballs too hard while I use it!  Are there similar brushes out there that will do the same thing just as well?  Possibly.  But I haven’t tried any, and I really like this one!

Sigma E40 Tapered Blending, $16

e40

I believe that eye brushes are essential to any makeup lover’s brush collection because the quality of them can make or break the finished product!  I also believe that a good blending brush like this one is important to own!  I love using this to blend out any shadows in my crease.

Sigma E25 Blending, $14 e25

This was actually my first eye brush ever!  I like to use this one to blend out any color that I want packed on a tad more than if I were to use the E40.  Probably my favorite eye brush I own.

Mac 242 Shader, $25

242

I’m going to be 100% real and say that this brush may not be worth the money.  I love it, don’t get me wrong, but at the same time I feel like there has to be plenty of other brushes out there that do the same thing just as well for a fraction of the price.  Don’t hold me to that though because I’ve personally never tried any others.  If you have the $25 to spend, then go for it because it really is a great brush; perfect for applying shadow to your lid!

Sigma E15 Flat Definer, $14 e15

This is my favorite brush to use for putting shadow on my lower lash line.  It’s thin and packs the color on perfectly.  After using this to apply the shadow I blend it out with the…

Morphe G27 Pencil, $6

g27

This brush is perfect for blending under the lower lash line, and you can’t beat the price!

Urban Decay Naked 3 Brush, (comes with palette) naked3

I’ve been using this brush to highlight my brow bone for as long as I can remember.  I usually use this one for my inner corner highlight as well!  I also like the fact that it’s double sided, so it’s two brushes in one!

So those are my top brushes that I can’t live without.  Believe me, I have plenty more, but I guess I could find a way to live without them if I had to.  What are your favorite brushes to use?  Which do you think I should give a try?  Until next time..

xx Nicole
