top songs of february 2016

I know I probably said something along the same lines last month, but I really cannot believe how fast this year is going.  I feel like I was moving back into the city only a week ago for this semester, and now I have two weeks left until spring break!  Craziness.  Anyway, here are the songs I’ve had on repeat for the past month:

There’s a lot I can say about this month’s playlist, but I will keep it brief (or at least try my best, since I am the queen of tangents)

First I’ll start with Against the Current.  Okay, so Running With the Wild Things is their second single off of their debut album coming out on May 20 titled In Our Bones, and I seriously cannot wait!  This summer I will be listening to them for two years, and while I haven’t followed them since the very beginning I can still say that they are one of the most talented people I know at their ages.  Chrissy’s vocals are incredible, and both Dan and Will are great at playing guitar/ drums, and all three of them have definitely improved since the release of their first EP.  It’s also nice to see that as they’ve progressed, and as they’ve grown as a band, they haven’t changed as people and stay true to themselves.  I’ll most likely dedicate a whole post to them come May, so all I’ll say is that this band is going to explode any day now, so if you’re not listening already, what are you waiting for ?!

Next, I want to talk about Pvris’ new song, You and I.  Wow.  I really don’t know what else to say other than it’s amazing.  I’ve been patiently waiting for Pvris to release something new, and while I’m a tad disappointed that their next album is only going to be the deluxe edition of their debut album with only two new songs, I will continue to suffer while they work their magic to create even more.

Alright, so.  LANY.  I spoke about them shortly in my last post (that you can find below) after seeing them live at the Troye Sivan concert.  I’d already known them and knew a few songs, but after seeing them perform I became an even bigger fan.  Paul Klein, the lead singer, is really good live, which is something that I always appreciate.  I can’t stand when people sound good on the studio versions of their songs, then sound nothing like that during a live show.  Something else I also figured out was that I actually have been listening to them since over the summer.  I was obsessed with the song, Walk Away basically all summer long, and I wasn’t able to make the connection that it is their song until after the concert, and I was literally mind blown.  Yes, I know.  I’m an idiot.  Go ahead, laugh.  Anyway, I’m hoping I’ll be able to see them again when they’re back in May.

The last band I’ll comment about is The 1975.  Somebody Else is the last single they released before their new album came out on February 26, and it is by far my favorite of the singles.  I’m giving fair warning now:  I have a feeling that the majority of next month’s playlist will consist of songs off their new album.  You have been warned.

I’ll wrap it up here.  If you actually took the time to read this whole thing, then thanks, I really appreciate your interest!  If not,  I get it.  I’m one of the laziest people in the world, so I don’t blame you.  What were your top songs of February?  Let me know, I’d love to hear what you’re listening to//any music recommendations!!  Until next time..

xx Nicole
